Long Tall Sally Autumn/Winter Collection

by Bex

As I mentioned in my recent post, I picked three fabulous items from the new Autumn/Winter range at Long Tall Sally.  Unfortunately since they've arrived, it' been rather lovely warm weather most of the time and not at all autumnal!  I've struggled to get out in all the layers to get some decent photos but my lovely father in law obliged on a chillier, sunny morning this week!  The babies also got in on the act for added cuteness ;)

The High Rise Flare Jeans are my favourite.  I only have one pair of pre-pregnancy jeans that fit me at the moment but they end up making a shelf for my belly which is highly unflattering along with general muffin top issues limiting what I can wear with them as it has to be very long and very baggy!

Also, Priya's just learned to kiss (with her mouth wide open)!

These new flares are high waisted so they are much more comfortable as well as being very flattering, holding in my tum.  They have a really good stretch in the denim so I bought size 16 which is still a little snug so they'll hopefully still fit if/when I finally manage to shift a bit of this belly!  Of course, the best bit is the length!  I have their shortest length at 34" which is perfect for me as I can't wear very high heels anyway but the 36" would be ideal for me with platform heels and they even do 38" for super tall ladies.  The next time I need a pair of jeans, I'll definitely be heading to Long Tall Sally, in fact I've actually ordered a pair of their skinny jeans which are super soft and stretchy (I tried them on in store but wanted a different colour).

I also love the Crochet Insert Smock which is the perfect long length (for wearing with those other jeans while these are in the wash!) and super soft.  The sleeves are perfect for dealing with babies as they are elasticated at the wrist so there are no dangly cuffs to get accidentally dipped in anything nasty!  Like the coatigan, it adds a little something to an otherwise basic outfit with the pretty crochet detail.  It's also long enough to wear with leggings but is flowy enough to wear with a maxi without looking entirely shapeless.

I always find the sizing generous in Long Tall Sally (I've recently been a size 20 for patterned trousers in Primark and BHS) so I would size down if ordering from the website.  I was surprised that the smock fitted me in size small (especially with my larger than normal breast-feeding boobs!) and the Coatigan in medium (the small fitted but was tight on the arms and I prefer coats and cardigans to be a bit looser).  All of the items feel well made with luxuriously soft fabrics - I can't stand itchy cardigans.

I actually had trouble deciding which items to add to my wish list, I was tempted by the suede brogue boots, the soft legging jeans in Khaki and these comfy trainers.  If I still had my old waist, I would have definitely chosen this green kimono dress!

I've also ordered myself a couple of other items from the website which I just couldn't resist now I'm starting to feel a bit more like my normal self after these last few months of new twin mummy mania!  These grey wedge ankle boots are pretty gorgeous and very comfy for when I just want to look a bit smarter now I can no longer live in sandals and flip flops.  I always struggle to find comfy boots which I can walk all day in.

*Disclaimer: I received the three items above from Long Tall Sally to review but my opinion is honest and entirely my own.  I have been a fan of Long Tall Sally for a number of years and genuinely love their clothing.

Boho style inspiration for Thailand - Pin it do it

by Bex

I'd already planned most of my holiday wardrobe for this trip but after spotting a couple more things in town, it really has turned into entirely boho style for this holiday.  I'm thinking, beads, long necklaces, fringing, tie dye and lots of floaty dresses.  Ideal for the sticky heat and long days on the beach, by the pool or exploring the local towns and national park.  My hair will most likely be frizzy in the humidity anyway (Monica style) so the straighteners are (probably) being left behind and I'll be going curly full-on frizz on this holiday.  I expect it will be mostly tied up in the heat anyway, it's already 30+ degrees over there!

Here are a few of my inspiration pins (since it's been so long since I did a pin it do it!) and below you will find a few of the new items I have bought as a wee pre-holiday treat.  i.e. I couldn't resist!

Personally I think there are two ways to do boho, the simple, stylish, neutral way and the full-on print-tastic, colourful, fully accessorised way.  I like both and will be mixing it up a bit and of course putting my own spin on the look.

Simple boho style inspiration:

L-R: One, Two, Three, Four
(I particularly love number 2 - I have a straw fedora like that, £2 from Primark last year
and I have some coloured trousers similar to number 3.)

Then colourful prints and floaty dresses/trousers:

L-R: One, Two, Three, Four, Five

Of course, the billowing cover-ups and fringing:

L-R: One, Two, Three, Four, Five

And the accessories, piled up bangles and bracelets, dangly necklaces, beads and chunky rings:

L-R: One, Two, Three, Four, Five
(I have plenty of friendship bracelets and beaded accessories.)

I've got some tie-dye dresses which I bought in Malaysia and quite a few beaded accessories already.  I also have a fab black fringed bag from H&M which they have just brought out in a pale grey - ideal for summer!  It's only £19.99 (although they do have a real suede one as well as faux leather for £69.99) and I had a voucher for 25% off so it was only £14.99.  (Voucher code = 1319 for 25% off one item and 1396 for free delivery if spending over £50.)

£19.99 - H&M

I also spotted this gorgeous pink and olive green dragonfly print scarf so OBVIOUSLY had to have it, especially since it was only £7.99 and strikes me as a bit McQueen-esque!

£7.99 - H&M

And although I definitely can't afford the Missoni sequined kaftan above, this H&M one is pretty gorgeous:

Sequined kaftan - £59.99 - H&M

Forever 21 also have some awesome boho style accessories at the moment:

 Bracelet - £3.90 and Necklace - £5.65 both Forever 21

And this gorgeous green beaded stunner - £11.65 - Forever 21

Primark also have some fab boho style things in for summer including this gorgeous fringed cover-up:

£15 - Primark

And these gorgeous chevron palazzo pants:

Palazzo pants, £12 - Primark
I also got a very flattering floaty tie-dye maxi dress for just £10 but can't find any pictures online.  It's very similar to this one but with yellow bits around the white patches:

I have a few sewing projects (adjustments and new tops) to make before we go as well.  I can't wait to go all hippy style in the sunshine!  Which is your favourite look above?  Do you embrace boho style for the summer?

Splurge Vs Save - The answer

by Bex

And the answer is...

B!

As of 1.30pm today we had 29 votes with the majority voting for option B!  Although I do like that SvS without the poll gets people to comment (you know how we love comments), this new poll option does seem to get more responses as I guess it's easier to just click your answer :)

A - 11 votes
B - 18 votes

It was really fascinating watching the voting on the poll this morning (I had a quiet morning at work!), the As were in the lead at one point and it was even for quite a while before a last influx of Bs!  I think this is the first time I've ever managed to get anyone to think the save is the splurge but quite a few of you did.  Seeing some of you comment on Twitter about your choices was interesting too. Some basing it on the accessories and others the cut of the clothes. :)

Briony you may be surprised that the necklace was just £11 and the shoes only £20! (Details below.)

What do you all think of the actual outfit?  You can see me wearing something similar (and even cheaper!) below.

Wedding Outfits - What I Wore

by Bex

I really loved my outfits for my cousin's wedding weekend down in Warrington :)

On the Friday night we all had dinner in the hotel and I chose to wear my dragonfly print dress (with a little help from Instagram, thanks Yanthe!) and I wore my gorgeous red lipstick Gemma gave me for my birthday called Mistress.  I don't often wear dark or colourful lipsticks but occasionally like a bright pink or deep red lip and having now tried this one out, I love it!

The gorgeous lipstick and me before I put any make-up on!

I was really pleased with my new long bob haircut (recently dubbed the clavicut - basically mid-length hair), my first cut in 6 months since I stopped colouring it!

Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Lipstick - Tesco F&F
Bag - Oasis
Necklace - eBay
Boots - Firetrap

On the wedding day I wore a dress I bought in the sale at Coast back in July, I thought it was a very autumnal colour being dark forest green and I thought it would look fab with gold accessories for this wedding.  I recently bought a gorgeous coat in Debenhams by Jasper Conran when they had 25% off Designers at Debenhams.  As soon as I tried it on I knew I had to buy it, I think the colour, shape and length really suit me, it's also really heavy so will be very cosy come winter.

I added an old big green flower brooch to my coat and wore antique gold court shoes from M&S.  Mum wore a fab multi-coloured dress, also from Coast and shoes from Debenhams.

My earrings were from Jenny Packham at Debenhams and necklace was given to me by Nik when he proposed.  Flower brooch from H&M years ago.

Green amethyst ring from eBay and bangle from Debenhams.

My hair wasn't sitting right on the Saturday so I put it in a random up-do with a small peacock feather clip.  You can really see the grey here but I am long past caring.

The shoes from M&S are SO comfy as they have a mid-heel and are quite wide.

My nail varnish is 'Wicked Game' by Deborah Lippmann (TK Maxx) and was perfect for this outfit having a nice purple-plum colour but a green tinge at certain angles.

I was pleased at how it all came together and had a great day at Lisa's wedding
