Kitcho Sushi - review
This review is long overdue but I had to write it as we had a lovely meal at Kitcho for Mother's Day in Greenwich. We hadn't booked anything in advance so were lucky to get a table with two hours' notice. I'm so glad we did as it was a wonderful little find!

Sunday Roast at The Guildford Arms, Greenwich - review
There are roasts and then there are ROASTS! This was the best Sunday roast I've had in a long time. Seriously amazing.
The twins and I joined my in-laws for lunch one weekend Nik was on a course in London, at the Guildford Arms in Greenwich. It's a modern pub with big bright windows and rustic furniture and a lovely daily menu.

Boxing Day in The Garrison, London
We went on a day trip to London on Boxing day for a meal at The Garrison pub with family. As we weren't able to be together on Christmas as planned this year we arranged to meet up for a meal that was relaxed but delicious and The Garrison was an ideal venue within easy access of London Bridge station. The kids had a blast with their cousin and we all had a cuddle with the newest member who's looking cute as a button as always!
It was lovely to get a family photo but of course with so many kids, at least one was bound to not be up for it. Priya was getting a bit tired by this point...

Blackheath Foodies Festival - Days Out by Bex
I was invited to attend the Foodies Festival in Blackheath over the weekend but we had so much going on in and around Uckfield on Saturday and Sunday that I could only make it on the Friday. I drove the twins there on Thursday evening and we had a lovely al fresco dinner with Ma in her beautiful garden and a nice lazy (if a bit too early) morning eating plums from the tree before we all headed out to the Festival.

Jam-packed July weekends - Days Out by Bex!
Well July has been off to an amazingly busy start, I can barely keep up with life never mind the blog but I just have SO many awesome things I want to share! There's so much going on in July, I'm struggling to fit them all in/choose where to go. This weekend alone I've been to Foodies Festival in Blackheath with the twins and Ma, Uckfield Festival Big Saturday, The Hurstwood Artisan Market and Brighton Kite Festival with Nik and the twins!

Ruby Wedding- the flowers, the venue and the decor - Anniversary Inspiration by Bex
As you know, I LOVE planning and decorating events. When our parents' 40th anniversary was coming up, we made sure we could get both sets in the same city at the same time in order to throw them a joint party. Not as easy as it sounds with my parents living in Malaysia and Nik's in London but given the awesome coincidence of them having married on the exact same day all those years ago, we made sure we planned it nice and early and last Sunday, we had a wonderful day of celebrations all together.
We opted for London as we thought it would be the easiest place for our relative to get to rather than somewhere near us in Sussex. Lots of Nik's family are in London anyway but my family up north would find it much easier to either fly there or get the train. I wanted somewhere near the in-laws place to make it easier for me to get there to make arrangements etc. and it also meant we could invite everyone back after for cake and bubbly. I recruited Gemma as my local London expert (she lives near my in-laws) and she gave me a great list of potential venues.
In the end we plumped for Bianco 43, a beautiful bright looking Italian restaurant, it's all white washed so the perfect blank canvas. They were very helpful planning with me over email about menus and what exactly we needed for the event. Not only that but they let me turn up early, two hours before they were open on the day to set up and let us take advantage of their birthday party offer of a free glass of fizz for all our guests! I went to visit the venue the evening before the party and was delighted to see where they planned to have us, with two long tables below the mezzanine which meant I could hang my banner, garland and photos!
Of course the first thing I do when planning anything is to make a Pinterest board, imagine if I'd had Pinterest when I was getting married! I had to keep this one secret as Mum's on Pinterest but here are a few of the flower inspiration images I saved:
I wanted to have clusters of little vases along the centre of the tables, filled with ruby colours, lots of greenery and a few white touches. I had hoped to get some deep red Peonies, Dahlias and Ranunculus among other things. I thought these were all in season in the summer and made plans to head to the famous Columbia Road flower market before the event as the anniversary was on a Sunday. I headed off bright and early to arrive when it opened at 8am and found some free parking nearby. Luckily it was still pretty quiet so I had a lovely time wandering up and down exploring what was on offer.
Sadly it turns out that Peonies had just finished and Dahlias were just starting so no-one had any of either. There was actually a lack of red in general, other than roses. Luckily I found some of my favourites, Celosia in the deep ruby colour (they also come in orange and green, I actually had green ones in my wedding bouquet) as well as some gorgeous fluffy dark pink Astilbe and another pink one with teenie flowers on each stem which I don't remember the name of (update: I saw these in a florist today and asked, they're called Veronicas). I had already bought some gorgeous dark red roses from a supermarket too. As there weren't as many large red blooms as I hoped, I did buy a few more white than I planned, some of my other favourites - Freesias and Lisianthus with a little bit of baby's breath and some greenery and again some others like the pink ones with lots of little flowers which I can't remember the name of. I wanted to make sure I had enough and spent £50 plus the roses.
Off I went with my armful of flowers (and a bag full of a few extra vases I did some great haggling for in a junk shop) and Nik came with me to the venue to get everything set up. Most of the vases were also from our wedding, I'd collected a few cut glass bud vases from various charity shops and had a few little jars left over from our jam wedding favours. I also managed to sneak a couple of small vases out of MIL's house that morning too!
In addition to the flowers, I had made a pom pom garland, a photo banner and had painted a 40 and RUBY letters to add to the decor as well as a little lovely company letter banner to spell out Happy 40th Anniversary. I made some tissue paper poms to hang back at the house as well and had some framed wedding pictures of both sets of parents (the same frames I used to display them at our own wedding). I have to say, I am really pleased with how everything looked in the end, especially the flowers! (I often picture ideas in my head but have trouble executing them to the same perfectionist standard I stupidly set myself but I was SO happy with how the floral arrangements turned out, exactly as I wanted!)
As you can imagine, I delegated childcare to Granny & Grampy while I painted and glittered little hearts, cut ribbons, fluffed tissue paper and trotted off to the flower market. The twins got some special extra time with their grandparents while I got to enjoy secretive crafting in the garage!
I'll share the actual event photos soon and show you how we re-arranged all the decor back at the house with the cake (and recipe)!

AOW Hen Do!
I have had SUCH a wonderful weekend! It was a much needed weekend away and I have just returned home and already bored the husband to tears with my excitable tales of new friends, food and tutus! Now it's your turn! ;) The lovely Anna from Skin and Blister has shared her photos with me so I can post some here but I have only chosen a few (mostly for my outfit pictures) as I know Anna K will be using some for her write up on Any Other Woman and I don't want to ruin it! I was also going to do a separate outfit post to the full run-down but it's all ended up combined!
I wore my super comfy new skirt for the journey down, paired with my new vest (post to come on all the geek/nerd style vests I've found, I love them and am obviously a proper blog geek too so they're perfect!) This Supergeek one is my favourite though...
I arrived very late on Friday night (as I didn't want to take a day off to travel down as usual - mistake! Never again!) I arrived at Gemma's, extremely tired at around 12.30am (luckily she's a wonderful friend and didn't mind having to get up to let me in at such a ridiculous hour and take my frantic calls about how to get there from Euston!) My bed was all made and ready for me so I quickly unpacked the tutus for de-crumpling purposes and went straight to bed. The next morning I was woken by Gemma's shrieks of delight (may be an exaggeration but that's how it was in my head!) at seeing a huge pile or peach, navy, aqua, grey and turquoise tulle in the corner of her living room. After a classic PrettiestHobo style scrambled egg breakfast with R, we got our outfits all packed up and headed over to Amy's (who was my delightful hostess for Saturday night) to get ready.
We were greeted with warm pittas and dips and a huge bowl of chocolate! We had a bit of a rush getting ready, I was most excited about getting to dress Gemma in my imagined AOW uniform for the ballerina theme and getting to play stylist (all be it a rather OTT one)! I painted her nails in navy blue with her ring fingers in peach with a blue heart gem, gutted I forgot to take a picture of these - hopefully she hasn't removed it yet and can send me one! (Edit: She has sent me one! See below!) Her outfit consisted of the tulle skirt I made specially in the AOW colours of navy and peach (she luckily had a peach slip for underneath), a peach heart ring, a coral (almost peach) NERD T-shirt, the fabulous nails and her own wedge trainers, all finished off with a ribbon tied round her bun.
As Anna K pointed out, I don't do things by halves, especially when it comes to fancy dress! I LOVE IT! My own outfit was similar but with a slightly bigger tutu (I ended up choosing more colours and spotting a sparkly tulle after my other colours were cut but I couldn't resist the glittery one and I obviously had to use them all so it ended up rather pouffy!) I also had a NERD T-shirt but in turquoise, did my nails in granite grey with aqua and a black heart gem. I was going for more of a rock chick ballerina and paired it with my leather jacket and biker boots, I also spotted the fab grey tie-dye tights in the sale in H&M! I wore my newly needle-felted heart elbow patch (#PinItDoIt coming V soon!) long sleeved T-shirt under my NERD T and my wedding sunglasses.

I had to share this lovely pic of the gorgeous Chirsty because it looks like she has a mini Anna K on her shoulder whispering wise things in her ear! Hehe. There is also a rather fabulously amusing photo of me which Anna took but that actually deserves it's own post!
Anna let me wear her gorgeous peach flower crown she made specially for the occasion and I swapped her my sunglasses which she proceeded to pout in - she is SO stunning!
We suddenly realised we had to get to Ping Pong for our reservation for dinner and all ran out to catch the bus. The food was so good and I was so hungry by the time it came I completely forgot to take pictures of most of it so you'll just have to trust me that it was delish!

Then the ultimate remaining 5 of Amy, Crysta, Katy, Claire and myself had one last cocktail in the last pub, discussing Hotness Pinterest boards, American TV shows and other pointless but fun things before heading home.

And I can't forget to mention the gorgeous little ballet bracelets Bex made for us all to wear!
The next morning, Amy's truly lovely husband-to-be (she's one of the hens!) made us cheese croissants!!! Perfect!
The rest of Sunday can wait 'til another post as I'm now knackered and need to sleep (clearly too high from the weekend to sleep now so must read to calm down!)
