Our first stop on honeymoon was Zanzibar and our first hotel was Karafuu in the South of the Island. We had asked for a hotel where we could just chill out for a few days after the wedding before we started diving and exploring and Karafuu was ideal.

The bar area was also lovely and we enjoyed a few cocktails over our 3 days there.
The food was excellent, we enjoyed some really nice buffet food here and the breakfasts were great! I love going on holiday just for the omelette stations and pancakes! The lunches in the beach restaurant were great too, we loved the fish carpaccio!
We also enjoyed a spa treatment while staying in Kurafuu in a couple's room - I had reflexology and Nik had a back massage, bliss! We then got use of the private spa pool area which was so peaceful but a little windy on top of the cliff!

They had built a path down to the sea to protect you from Sea Urchins of which there were hundreds with big black spines all over the rocky area heading out to the sandy patch you could swim in.

On our last night we saw an fantastic acrobatic performance by some locals who travel around the hotels with their show. It was amazing!!
We also went for a wee wander outside the resort one afternoon to explore the local village - we were told it was very safe and we could walk outside no problem. See the next post for what happened...
