As part of our advent fun this year, we wanted to finally see a pantomime! Can you believe I've never been!? Anyway, it worked out perfectly when we were invited to review Cinderella at Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne, we weren't able to go to their press viewing last year but this year even Nik managed to get the afternoon off so we could all go as a family, yay!
As I've said before, Devonshire Park is a gorgeous theatre with ornate surroundings and comfy red seats. We get so excited waiting for the show to start and this time we were up in the circle so we had a great view over the whole place including the musicians in front of the stage.
The show itself was brilliant fun! Even K was entranced this time and P was loving it and joining in as usual, singing along with the Greatest Showman songs, dancing and clapping. The ugly sisters were fantastic and had great chemistry with Buttons/Mario.
I loved the costumes too, especially the flamboyant, garish dame outfits! It was all so colourful with wonderful sets and lighting adding to the effect with plenty of sparkle too, especially the crystal shoes!
We enjoyed lots of Greatest Showman tunes, Baby Shark and some good oldies too like Adam Ant, some modern stuff like Beyonce and of course the traditional "Oh no he didn't!" lines for us to join in. Priya loved it all, Kalyan loved the bit with the wee! Not surprising.
If you're looking for a festive afternoon or evening out, definitely head for the panto at Devonshire Park Theatre, it's so much fun! Had us laughing, dancing and singing, the acting was great and we loved the dance sequences. Brilliant fun!
We received free tickets in return for this review, all opinions are honest. Photos are my own, allowed with kind permission from the theatre.
