I absolutely loved this post on Florence Finds recently as I have been trying out the one finger in a different colour trick since I spotted it on Kelly Rowland on the X Factor last year.
After reading that post, however, I was inspired to try something different and after mentioning on twitter my white nail pen I bought before Christmas (I was planning to draw snowflakes! Adventurous and never actually had time so maybe next year!) Roz suggested I could do polka dots! All morning that was all I wanted to do so at lunchtime I raced home, made lunch and proceeded to paint my toes (wearing flip flops back to work before changing into my shoes so they had time to dry (although they have ended up with a minor texture from my socks!) Here is the result...
I then wanted to do the same to my fingernails but in a more pastel tone. The one on my toes is a slightly sparkly metallic one - Bright Aqua from M&S.
Sadly the first polish I tried for my fingernails (an old Primark purchase) was a complete disaster and I will never be buying one of theirs again no matter how gorgeous the colour! After 30 minutes they STILL weren't dry and I could scrape them off with my finger nail. They also would have needed at least 3 coats (I'd only managed 2) to get a decent colour. I went out to try and find a similar colour and came back with this Rimmel one...
This was a much better varnish and looked fab on! I used the nailene skinny french tip pen (packaging shown below if you want to buy it - I got mine in Boots) and OPI Start to Finish base & top coat.
The nail pen was very easy to use and gave great results! I might even extend my kit so I am able to use my other colours to make patterns now!

Better quality photo but it's after work so there is a bit of a texture on the big toes! |
