When we went to Alnwick Garden, I had my Canon G11 with me, mainly for a few outfit pictures and some shots of the place but when we got to the flower garden I decided to take a few shots of the beautiful flowers there and came across a few bees (and drone flies) perching on some of them. I got a bit hooked trying to get the perfect photo and came away with quite a few I'm pleased with (the 2nd one is my favourite!)...
So much so, I truly got the photography bug again (pun not intended!) and took a few more photos in the in-laws' garden the next day, especially when I discovered their Globe Thistle attracted quite a few bees as well! I love extreme close ups and how they make the bugs look scary and alien-like, not to mention the pretty abstracts you can find in the flowers...
I really love this camera, I got it for my underwater shots originally, after it was recommended by a few of the dive guides in Egypt. It's not very compact but it's very handy to cart around instead of my SLR and gives great results even in macro mode.
