A Star Photographer & Re:store launch

by Roz

You were all so nice about my last outfit post :) so when Lauren suggested we venture outside to take some pictures for my next one I jumped at the chance!  We were heading along to the launch night of somewhere to_ re:store at South Frederick Street in Glasgow, which we were intrigued to find out more about.  Despite a few rain showers that day, the weather held up and we took a few pictures at the city chambers building before heading along.

You are already totes aware of my sock bun fetish right?!?

Top - Topshop
Jeans - Fornarina
Shoes - Barratts
Bag - River Island
Necklace - Accessorize
Earings - also Accessorize - they were a gift from Bex :)

We headed to the launch night and were pretty impressed with what we found.   There were pop up shops selling the wonderful cakes below, which could be washed down by a cup of speciality tea - the jasmine smelled lush.

There were some thought provoking photographs on display, complete with captions written by teenagers from across the UK.  The exhibition is named Photovoice and aims to provide young people with the chance to communicate their thoughts through images.  It was impressive and so many of the pictures were beautiful.

And a wonderful comic strip that was being brought to life in front of us by two very talented young artists.  I so wish I could draw.

Everyone who attended the opening event were also invited to add to the dress below.  Made out of plastic bottles, you could shape and melt the plastic into flower or star shapes(!) before gluing to the wire to form the skirt.

We also had a play about on the vintage photobooth wall, hilarious!

The venue is being used for a number of different pop up shops and exhibitions over the coming weeks and there are a number of things scheduled that look well worth a visit. I'm keen to head along to the Our Founding Daughters exhibition which starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday. This pop-up photography exhibition merges together the cream of Scotland's most talented female contemporary fashion photographers, featuring Levi Macdonald, Nuala Swan and Emily Wylde.

Has anyone been already or planning on checking out re:store and their #highstreetheist?

Roz xx
