Rasa Ria Shangri La Resort, Borneo

by Bex

For our night up towards the northern tip of Borneo, we had been told we were staying in a B&B booked by Mum & Dad.  Little did we know that they'd been sneaky and actually treated us all to rooms at the Shangri La resort!!  As we pulled up to the reception, I was still oblivious.  Mum told me the B&B was on the resort, I am so gullible - Nik often has fun with my gullibility - and it was only when Nik said he thought we'd been tricked that I realised what they'd done.

As we were all taken through to sit in reception, they rang a gong to welcome us and a small band started playing local music!

We sat down to fill in the forms and were brought ice cold flannels and peach iced tea by a woman in a gorgeous traditional uniform.

The rooms at the resort were gorgeous and large with an abundance of green!  I loved the decor and the massive king size bed :)

After checking in, we went straight for lunch before heading up to see the orangutans which we had booked at 2pm.  I enjoyed a lovely refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail with cherry, raspberry and strawberry syrups mixed with lemonade.

Nik, my cousins and I.

After seeing the orangutans we decided to chill out and cool off in the pool but by the time we all got ready, it was pretty stormy and chucking it down.

Bag - Shangri-La Hotel (they provided beach bags in the hotel room!)

The others decided to go anyway but I chose to take some time out on my own and sat on the balcony listening to the rain with my kindle.  It was lovely.

It looks perfect - particularly staying in with a good read and the sound of the rain!
