After we gave up on the Big Cheese Festival at Hove Lawns, we did a quick search for somewhere to have lunch. Luckily it was a short walk up a hill to reach some local shops and cafes and we soon discovered Constantinople which looked cosy and inviting. We're so glad we found it as we had an amazing lunch which really saved our day out.

We ordered urgent milk for the kids, who were desperate for something after wandering around the cold field, and settled in. The menu sounded amazing, I'm keen to go back for one of their Mediterranean breakfasts soon! We opted for their lunch deal which included a choice of one of the special mains and a selection of mezze for £7.90.
Nik and I both chose the lamb meatballs which came with bulgar wheat and salad. The mezze we received (we asked for no nuts which did rule out some options) included celeriac, pumpkin (or butternut squash), another grain salad, baba ganoush and flatbreads. They were all lovely, especially the lemony celeriac/pea dish. The baba ganoush was a bit smoky for me but I reckon my Dad would love it! The kids ate almost everything, we all especially loved the meatballs!
Constantinople is a family run cafe, the lovely Özlem who was serving us was so friendly and welcoming and explained her brother and mother were the ones working hard in the kitchen. I'd definitely recommend it for a lunch out with the family, I'd love to have dinner there too and will definitely be back for an unusual brunch asap. We really like Mediterranean food and this place does it authentically with love.
