I should probably come up with a better name for my first cocktail recipe but my imagination is not cooperating! Perhaps I should request suggestions in the comments!? The best I could think of was something relating to dragonflies (I also thought of Bakewell Cocktail but that's pretty boring and doesn't really taste like one despite the cherries and almond) but since I decided to serve it in my Tiki glass with no dragonfly ornamental sticks for decoration I don't think even that works, although I did have a rather sunny paper stick thing, anything to try to cheer myself up while Nik was stuck at work ;)
This recipe was a result of experimenting and luck. Initially it was way too strong (just cherries, rum, apple juice and kirsch) so I added more apple juice. It was still a bit sour (you might like that but I prefer sweeter cocktails) so I tried adding 2 different sweet flavours, malibu and amaretto. The amaretto worked best as I thought it would since cherries work so well with almond. It was still a little strong in alcohol and flavour so I topped it up with a little soda and it was perfect. :)
Ingredients:
100g frozen sour cherries
150ml apple juice
1 large shot dark rum (30ml)
1 shot Kirsch (25ml)
6 ice cubes
1 small shot Amaretto (20ml)
top up with soda (optional)
Method:
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend. (I love recipes with that method!)
Serve with a colourful adornments if you have any. :)
I do LOVE my Tiki glass!

Im going to share our new favourite drink we invented (probably not really) in Hawaii - gold rum & guava juice - blended with ice would be especially ace but we don't have a blender (or freezer for that matter). It tastes a bit like pink tutti fruities.
Oooh yum! Will have to try that one :)
Cherry+almond= the flavours in a bakewell tart :)
