How to deal with stress

Or, more specifically, how I deal with stress!

Thursday was my day off and after my stressful week, I had plans to try to relax.  First, I met Roz for lunch at Sloans for some proper comfort food, macaroni cheese with chips and a coke.  It was lovely to catch up as I hadn't seen her since we got back from Korea what with me being so ill then busy at work.

I had a couple of hours at home to get a few little jobs done and then headed out for a massage.  I received an itison voucher from Nik for my 31st birthday for a back, neck and shoulder massage and express facial with a glass of bubbly at Distinction Spa in Clarkston.  I'm so glad I booked it for this week, I ended up actually needing a massage for the first time, rather than just for enjoyment.  They didn't have any bubbly but gave me a large glass of red wine instead.  I felt like a different person when I left and that night had the best sleep I'd had all week.

After that, I headed to Sarah's to catch up with her.  I am so lucky to have so many friends to be able to talk to or even email about everything, good & bad - definitely one of my top stress-busting tips, just get it all out!  Sarah fed me some of her leftover pasta & meatballs and after the kids had gone to bed we just had a good old natter and some of the yummy Ice Delight she reviewed recently.  I tried the Raspberry one and it was delicious - I definitely want to try some of the other flavours!

After work on Friday, I hopped straight in a bath using some of the stress relieving oil I bought at the spa to make a milky, lavender scented soak.  I took a magazine and my kindle in with me, along with a blueberry cheesecake muffin, some salted cashew nuts and a glass of red.

I was all sleepy afterwards so thought I'd have a quick nap before making dinner but didn't wake up until Nik came home after his late shift and ended up sleeping through for 12 hours!  I obviously needed it!

Today I'm having a pyjama day catching up on Grey's Anatomy, until 6 when I'm off back to Sarah's for a wine tasting evening with Roz and Anne.  :)

I like making time to relax a priority after a stressful week. And sleep is always my.number one stress cure, though of course it's so hard to sleep when stressed!
